In the world of technological miracle, the topic on the food we eat has sometimes been in shadows. What we eat is what we are. Where everything we do is becoming smarter and innovative. How has our food Industry evolved during the same era? Has our food become dumber or smarter? The socio-cultural shift that has led to new millennials implementing their ideas into the way they want to see the world of tomorrow , the rise of communication technologies, the innovative IT solutions has encourage millennials to startups with fresh new concept which had shaken current fast food business to adopt a new open, transparent and efficient business models.

The current food industry either it be large supermarkets or fast food giant is under attack due to their unethical and unsustainable growth and business practice. The recent survey data states on an average, any produce sold at a Supermarket chain are at least a month old. On an average Apples that are sold on these Supermarket is a year old on kept on the shelves for sale. Fast food are known for providing frozen boring and unhealthy food for few decades know. The total distance of the road transportation in the food basket was 21″,073 kilometers (km), almost the same distance to travel around Australia’s coastline (25″,760 km). An in-depth analysis of this problem is not only be seen in micro or meso context but it has much larger global environmental context. As the consumer are being more aware of the data. Small local enterprise can tap into this market void with a new post capitalist venture start up with a right decision making process.

Small farmer have an advantage over Big supermarket over the freshness of their product whether it be bakery, fruits and vegetables or meat. They just have to communicate with their customer about their locally grown and sold product, their need to share their stories of efficiency and sustainability. Though innovation, customer can get all the information about the product i.e (date of production, worth, nutritional value, location of the product till the very source of it. The can create a network of small enterprises share and receive data , information knowledge which will allow them to make tactical and operational decision rationally rather than a uncalculated Realtime irrational one.
